All of the following recommendations represent what the students and instructors
at The Hut New Mexico believe to be worth reading.  There are of course many
great books that we simply are unaware of.  This list is by no means
meant to imply that these are the only good books out there.  We also
would like to point out that while you can get your books anywhere you wish,

Positive Aikido   by: Rogers/Ellis/Eastman 
This book gives an in-depth look at Ellis Schools of Traditional Aikido's special brand of technique, strategy and philosophy.



The Aikido Student Handbook   by: O'Connor
A good overview of all the basics a beginner needs to know.


Aikido Basics   by: Dang/Seiser 
This book covers the basics of Aikido very well.
 

Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere   by: Westbrook/Ratti
A required classic.


Traditional Aikido Vol. 1   by: Saito
Long out of print and hard to find, this book covers Aiki-Jo better than any other book out there.


Takemusu Aikido Vol. 1   by: Saito
Covers History of Aikido then moves on to exercises and then covers Ikkyo through Yonkyo.


Takemusu Aikido Vol. 2   by: Saito
Covers Shiho-nage, Kote-gaeshi and Irimi-nage.


Takemusu Aikido Vol. 3   by: Saito
Covers Kaiten-nage, Koshi-nage, Tenchi-nage, Juji-nage, Suwariwaza Kokyuho and Morotedori Kokyuho.


Dynamic Aikido   by: Shioda 
Great pictures of beautifully executed Aikido.


Aiki Toolbox   by: Harrington/Hennen
Offers alternative ways to relate or explain how Aikido works.


Doing Aikido   by: Drysdale
The author provides well written explanations of how Aikido works.


Aikido - Moving On   by: Drysdale
This book picks up where the first one left off with more info for more advanced students.


Living Aikido   by: Klickstein
Very well written with great pictures.


Aikido Journal / Aiki News     Complete Archives on DVD
Thousands of articles on Aikido as well as many other martial arts.


Invincible Warrior   by: Stevens
A Pictorial Biography of Morihei Ueshiba, the Founder of Aikido.


In The Dojo   by: Lowry 
Simply the best book available on dojo etiquette and customs.


Kodo:  Ancient Ways   by: Furuya
Dojo stories told by a master teacher with over 35 years of experience.
